Ribble Fuel Oils

is a typical family business involved in the supply and distribution of heating oils, agricultural diesel, road diesel and petrol.

As 2 brothers in the second generation phase, we have significantly increased the size of the business organically over the last 15 years.

In 2005, we substantially increased the business with two local acquisitions. These substantially altered the dynamics of the business and instead of running the business on a day-to-day operational basis, we found ourselves with a number of unexpected issues, such as IT integration, new systems and procedures, managing the managers, new employees, etc.

It was at this point we were introduced to Mark Game who worked on two levels. Firstly, he assisted me, as the operational director, in new HR techniques and how to manage the new employees and reporting structures. For example, the recruitment of a Financial Controller, something I would have found much harder with just an agency for support. Secondly, he became involved in the monthly management meetings and provided a catalyst for our regular manager meetings. This has seen the successful development of all key managers and we still hold regular meetings. Mark now acts almost as a non-exec director and can ask all the awkward questions no-one really wants to ask!!

We are delighted with the progress we have made and will be continuing to use Mark's services for the foreseeable future.
